展覽︰香港勝地 動物彳亍 December 8, 2008

是次展覽由黃淑琪策劃,廿九几協辦,同場將有為展覽而印製一套三本《動物彳亍》叢書,及廿九几其他書籍發售。

《香港勝地-動物彳亍》

地圖提供資料之外,能否提供想像?黃淑琪x廿九几合力炮製一幅「想像地圖」,於十二月上海街視藝空間展示一眾希望發掘香港城市景觀以外的另類選擇。

黃 淑琪既不是行山專家,也不是毅行者,她只是相信要認識香港這個地方,並找到旅行的趣味,卻不必動用Lonely Planet。展覽的意念以一個問題起始:「如何突破地圖提供的資料,跨越至想像空間?」她以輕鬆的遊戲方式製造限制──在香港地圖上,只挑出三個動物名稱的地方:鹿洲村、狐狸頭和雞谷樹下。

她開始策動攝影旅程,並聯同另外兩名廿九几的成員何翹楚及陳志華進行文字創作,三個地方三個故事,製作成三本21英吋乘28英吋大書,並將懸掛在上海街視藝空間的大白牆上,供參觀著細意翻閱,神遊物外。街外櫥窗則掛上一幅只有以動物命名的香港地圖,空間內外譜奏出香港勝志地新旋律。三個故事,製作成三本袋裝書,同場發售。

「四零四」本年度再獲香港藝術發展局邀約策劃上海街視藝空間的藝術活動,為期一年。成員在過去三年積極參與上海街視藝空間的管理及策展工作,鼓勵藝術家表達其社會及歷史意識。「四零四」支持本地原創、普及藝術交流和鼓勵民間參與,致力打造上海街視藝空間成為理想的藝術交流平台。

“Hong Kong Top Sights — Animal Walk”
Ki Wong is neither a hiker nor a travel expert, but she holds the belief that it is possible to get to know Hong Kong and experience the thrill of travel and adventure without a copy of Lonely Planet in her hands. This exhibition begins with a simple query: can maps provide, apart from information, room for imagination and creativity? She prefers to put this question at ease and take on the conceptual limitations of the notion of ‘maps’ by applying the following rule-driven method: she only picks out places with names which refer to all sorts of animals in Chinese before planning her photographic journeys. Meanwhile, her friends from the the local publishing group, 29s, are also invited to join in the creative process and contribute associative writings on such places. Through this collaboration process, the same locations are both visualized and textualized, and are reproduced as a form of image-text collage and a work of locative imaginations.

Three pocket books, three locations in Hong Kong: Luk (deer) Chau Village, Wu Lei (fox) Tau, Kai (chicken) Kuk Shuo Ha, and three short stories. Text were written by Ki Wong, Chor and Ernest Chan.

新一期字花又出啦!謝謝model Tony、化妝的世哥、styling的Wallis、江記及兩位義務助手Ray及Howard。拍攝過程總算順利及有趣。

現代攝影院

上星期帶YMCA的學生去深水埗的現代攝影院拍了這張相,相片是用中型相機拍攝,用了四支燈,被攝者前左右兩支用了soft box的大燈,相片右上即我身旁中下處有另一支燈(下圖相片拍攝時沒有sync這支),相機腳架上及背景布下均有一支flash分別為背景及人物下身補光。謝謝攝影師,他讓我們看那細小多塵的黑房,那裡充斥著藥水味道,滿地証件相,活動的空間就只有兩個身位。此外,他也給我講解如何製作瓷相。

原本只有四張的照片,他給了我們六張,好讓我們能每人一張。拿著相片,想著他在那個黑房費上時間及精神去沖印,很是感動,對於不自動的製作,以及攝影師的人情味,我是十分尊崇的。

包起個場

今天姐姐跟我提起小馬(Rayan)的生日,問我會送什麼,要求我買益智的東西,並說有一個月時間讓我想。
平日帶小馬去遊樂場,見佢同好多細路一樣,都想霸晒成個場。好啦,咁我就包起個遊樂場送比小馬啦。

An approach, not a  technique; an affirmation, not a negation. The documentary attitude is not a denial of the elements which must remain an essential criterion in any work. It merely gives these elements limitation and direction. Thus composition becomes emphasis, and line sharpness, focus, filtering, mood — all those components included in the dreamy vagueness “quality" — are made to serve an end; to speak, as eloquently as possible, of the thing to be said in the language of pictures. The question is not what to picture nor what camera to use. Every phase of our time and our surrounding has vital significance and any camera in good repair is an adequate instrument. The job is to know enough about the subject matter, to find its significance in itself and in relation to its surroundings, its time, and its function.

《字花》第十三期.維園

由現在第十三期起,將為《字花》拍攝封面。這期以維園作題材。從大坑的家往窗外看,能看得見維園。一直想去維園拍攝晚上的樹,這次給了我去完成這個想法的機會。那些相我還沒有沖晒,拍照及晒相一樣,都需要動機或籍口。所以它們都不在《字花》裡。

為了想出什麼點子,我特意到維園來回走了好幾次,星期天人很多,遇上了有趣的人及事。維園是一格一格的,維園內有著不同功能的活動空間,各人各組各貓佔據各有利位置。更有趣的是隨處可見花圃內的草地及行人路上,均被外籍傭工鋪設成私人空間(在維園看這情境跟中環或其他地方看的不同)。雖然很多香港人都不喜歡,認為她們在霸佔空間,但說實在,我很喜歡,我會想成是她們用活了空間,在預設的有形的空間重新建造無形及更具彈性的空間,更有人性地運用那些被欄得死死的土地。

我在想:將香港人放進去,迫佢地閒情起來,佢地會做D乜?於是將之前跟小樺江記度好了的概念套上,成了這張照片。
